is there any chance to find out the name of person if you know his/her IP-address ?

hi,

thats right, by contacting the ISP it is possible to get the telephone number->directory search-->name and address for dialup's.
For cable connections where the ip is static again, the consumer would have filled out a form to the ISP with name and address details.

Usually the ISP does not give out the name and address related to the ip unless you file a police complaint or have some one working for the ISP.
