pinging ip address

i am using winnt 4.0 server.. i have multiple ip address configured in a server. but now i wont be able to ping the ip address. i can only ping * ip address. can somebody help me over come this problem

oh yea i can ping from the same network but from remote side i can't ping other ip address. only * ip is working.

run, cmd , ping www.google.com lol thats all I know about pinging....and that it is used in home networking...
