Whoppix Linux is based on Knoppix Linux. It doesn't need to be installed on your machine, it boots off the CD and runs in memory. If you've never used Linux before you can try it out without worrying about screwing up your system or partitioning off your HD for a dual boot. It loads into the KDE desktop manager so you've got time to learn about using the commandline.

Whoppix is geared toward network admis wanting to test their security and comes with several tools and exploits on disk. From the Whoppix site:

"Whoppix is a stand alone penetration testing live cd based on Knoppix. With the latest tools and exploits, it is a must for every penetration tester and security auditor. Whoppix includes Several exploit archives, such as Securityfocus, Packetstorm, SecurityForest and Milw0rm, as well as a wide variety of updated security tools. The new custom kernel also allows for better WIFI support, for tools such as Aireplay."

Knoppix is a great distro too. It comes with more packages and I'd recommend it if you're never used Linux before.
