At least in the U.S.A you have some kind of rights in the first place. In Canada rights are whatever the government decides to give you. For instance.. in the states you are innocent until proven guilty, in Canada you have to prove your innocense to get the charges dropped, otherwise you go to further court action.
( Anyone can accuse anyone of anything and the accused must prove their innocense on every allegation charged)
In Canada the police and the RCMP have complete power at their own discretion. They might say that they cannot tap someone's computer or phone, but a quick request to the proper authorities will temporarily give them that right.
In Canada you can be held in jail for up to three days JUST if they THINK you have info they want.
The laws here are horrible compared to the states.
At least in the states, your representatives are still TRYING to protect you.
