This is from a sports forum where you register global users etc. I have the persons user name and the IP address is there anyway to find out who it is

You should use a site called http://www.arin.net/whois/ to find these kinds of things.

But you can't find out who the person is, just where they live, who their ISP is, and stuff like that.

Yeah you can only find where they are located if their connection is actually owned/leased by them, such as in some schools or colleges. If we are dealing with a home user, their address is dynamically assigned by their ISP upon each re-connection, so it is registered to their ISP. If you 'trace' their IP address, you will get their ISP's location, which is usually quite close by.

But when they use a large ISP like AOL, this 'approximate location' can be *000s of miles away from where they actually live.

plus theres a posibility it's not a static IP,it might be assigned from his isp.

Hi,you cannot find the exact information from an ip.But you can find some of the informations like Internet Service provider(ISP),IP location,Country,Latitude,Longitude,etc., Do you want to find these information's for an ip i would s***est the site Ip-details.com .Here they providing the service of Ip Search.By using this service,you can find the information which are above mentioned.
