Which ones do you recommend and why?

I have Lavasoft Ad-Aware, I used to have Spybot Search & Destroy but I got Norton 2007 now and it made me remove it.

The two you mentioned are really the best in this area of malware removal and have become the de-facto standard. You shouldn't need anything else to keep most systems clean.

Basic ********* knowledge and common sense though can make most malware-removal software redundant. I suppose it's down to personal preference and whether you have any really sensitive data on your computer that makes all the used resources from this software worthwhile.

I'm surprised that Norton made you remove Spybot -- the whole point of it is to protect your system. I suppose it's because they both do the same thing.

Norton bogs down your system and drains it's resources more than any of them out there currently today. Avast! AntiVirus is the best becuase it features and detects alot of things that the others just don't find. AVG Is also a great antiviral tool and they offer a free version on their site.
