what it says:

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2527 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 0000ac9b



the following files will be included in the error report: C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\6c8c_appcompat.txt

ok so if i open a folder randomly something will pop up saying that windows explorer has encountered a problem and only gives me one choice which is close when i hit close every icon on my desktop dissapears, my taskbar dissapears and all windows explorer windows up will close then my taskbar and my desktop icons appear back leaving my windows explorer windows that i had up gone. how in the hell do i fix this?

Try disabling thumbnail previews (view -> folder settings or something like that) or switch to list view and see if that solves it.

thanks for trying but that isnt the problem i just removed some spyware that i found and it comes up less now but it still restarts every once in a while I still have not figured out how to fix it

i figured it out and fixed it i had to reinstall windows xp service pack 2
