What does it mean when you are getting a packet sent ever 2 or 3 minutes from various ip's to your ip port 137? Za is blocking all of them. It started 2 days ago. Any ideas??

Thanks

Hi

It means that there's a bunch of teenagers out there that are playing in Scaning your NetBIOS port(s)
137-138-139.

They "still" think that they can hack into a machine thru these ports..

you are lucky and safe as far as ZA is blocking these attempts.. keep an eye..

There's a couple worms that have been banging on TCP port 137 with an originating port in the low temp range, around 1025, for the past 6 months or so.

You have explained the "hits" on port 137 as of late. Thank you. Don't forget to upgrade your virus scan when you are prompted by your security service. And test your firewall to make sure that the port is closed. Yes, this a great forum which is right up there with the rest. :-)
