I know that my computer has a unique ip address. What I am wondering is what part of my computer would I need to change to get a different IP address. Is it in my operating system,my processor , hard drive or where? .Sorry for the dumb question ahead of time.

I'm pretty sure your IP address is provided by your ISP.
I think you can go to cmd and do
/ipconfig release
/ipconfig renew
I think that gets you a new one. Not sure.
change to
ipconfig /release
ipconfig/ renew
and go to contact/Local Area connection /General/Internet protocol(TCP/IP) /properties
I think that MAC system is another this , I Not sure ,I Not sure :)
What happened to my post? I think the mods hate me. Is this true guys...

Eh, what post? You never posted in this thread (except for the above post).
Humm, nevermind then. I thought I posted it but I must have just previewed it. Oh well..:)

I think that is correct: your IP address on the Internet is provided by your ISP.
Going to the command line and using the ipconfig commands are applicable to a local network (I believe). For example, if you are in an office being served by a local server, this ipconfig command could get you a new local address, but it wouldn't get you a new IP address as far as the rest of the world is concerned. Anybody using an online IP checking service to see your IP address (say, from one of your e-mails) would not see a change.
