Hey all! I have someone on tagged that has been harrassing me and so when I sent them a msg back they said that they have my ip address and they know who I am and they are going to take it to the federal authorities. Is this possible?

Thanks!

That they have your IP address is quite possible. When you send an e-mail message, your IP address is typically in the message headers. If the message you're referring to is an instant messenger message, this may be possible in some cases, too. Now, the part regarding "they know who I am" is less likely. See, for example, http://www.lookup-ip.com/main/06/ . Speaking of federal authorities ... why would you worry if you didn't do anything illegal.

Anything about "federal authorities" is poor and simple lie. Some idiots love to have a fun in such a way. Don't believe them, nobody is going to waste such resources for you)))
If you want to know more about how to Detect IP Address ( http://smart-ip.net/en/
), you can use the faq on that site.
Have a good time)

I find IP Mailer (http://www.sharewarecheap.com/IP-Mailer_software_*626.html) monitor and detect your ip. Once you connect with your modem or your IP changes for some other reason, IP Mailer will detect it automatically.

This is totally unrelated to the topic being discussed.
