OK. It isn't strictly a NET related issue. It's more a Windows issue of Privacy. But, if you've ever looked at the DTC Log, it could report what you had for breakfast a year ago. I'm not kidding about the detail of the DTC log. AND it has nothing to do with DTC!!!

It reports what you installed, what you excecuted, when you signed onm when you logged off, what failed, what didn't fail, AND NONE of it NEED be within a ***********!!!

Talk about Privacy???

You know, anyone with Windows goes to Microsoft for updates. Ass such, Microsoft is given certain prvilidged access to your PC to install the updates, AND access your files too.

Think you got privacy? Think again.

Anytime your signed on as a member of the Admin group and on the net, like I am now.... 4get privacy! Anyone can do what they want. Windows is made to be hacked! LOL!

Or how about the "Recent Files" directory?? Write a personal; note to someone??? How about the History Directories??? Visit a Porn Site lately, or someother site with personal info on you, such as your ****** card#, that some idiot would love to get a hold of to screw you personally??

Alls I can say is: Privacy on the Net is an illusion, and perhaps it's best that way. I don't wnat folks like Bin Laden being able to roam the halls of the Internet freely anyway. So I'm willing to let the FBI know I went to a porn site. Big deal!!!!

Where can this tell-all file be found?

I did a search on my XP box for DTC.log and came up empty. A search for DTC came up with tdtcp.sys as a closest match in the Windows\system*2\drivers directory.

BTW if using Windows bothers you that much download Linux, it's free.

Are you talking about the Distributed *********** Coordinator service in Adminstrative Tools?

"Coordinates ***********s that span multiple resource managers, such as databases, message queues, and file systems. If this service is stopped, these ***********s will not occur. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail."

I have the Startup Type set to manual as per Black Vipers s***estions and the service was not started, which may explain why I didn't have a log for it.

I'm glad the windows finally made a program that will log things as well as my linuxbox. If you have anyproblems with "secuirty" of windows your a noob and need to shutup and read a bit and stop being so damn lazy. I love windows sever 0*, enough that i replaced redhat on my laptop with it.

Hi

All depends on what YOU want..

For XP users, do the following:
*. Go to your system*2 directory usually \windows\system*2
2. Double Click on file services.msc to launch it.
*. Sort by name to find the service Distributed *********** Coordinator.
4. Select it, Right Click then properties.

Now in the "startup type" you can turn to manual OR SIMPLY DISABLE it..
In disabled mode, NO MORE LOGS WHATSOEVER

take care
