I have same problem. When i format my HDD and install WinXp os.After this i sit only 20 minutes and some trojans come to me.
They usually use name explored.exe or svchost*.exe .They try to connect to next website 5ecret.spread.info - this website registered in Japan with Australian domain .au
To check this ip i use http://www.network-tools.com
That trojan don't gives to you scan for viruses in Norton Antivirus.
At least when i try to do full system scan - trojan automatically
close active antivirus window. If you have one of the files - you have serious trojan.Just press CTRL+ALT+DEL and see which processes is running. And if you have one of this files - kill processes for these files and delete them. When you are in internet - better use
publicproxyservers especially hi-anonimity.They will hide your real ip and you will be protected from at least some trojans.
Here is some useful links http://www.stayinvisible.com http://www.publicproxyservers.com

Look out for downloads, forced or otherwise, certified by Thawte certification. This name is strongly connected with a trojan called look2me.com that is undetected by antivirus programs and a really bad nasty. The antivirus companies know about it, but will do nothing to update their software against this problem.

if you think you are infected of trojans or virus, and your anti virus cant deleted or heal the variants. simple use safemode or go to MSCONFIG uncheck the boxes at a time to find out which one is the trojan. in safemode nothing is running in the background so use your AV scanner and scan your pc. how to go in safemode? once your pc boots up press F8 and highlight SAFEMODE. how to go to msconfig? go to run and type msconfig.
