Flexlm is unable to identify hostid

Hello everyone (first post here)

I am having a big headache with the installation of ansys on my linux machine. The problem is that the flexlm program seems unable to get the hostid of the machine. From all that I have read I know that it should be the mac address of my ethernet card. The card is connected and everyhing seems to be working properly. If someone with some knowledge of flexlm could give me some hints/guidance I would be very thankful. I am running linux mint *4 on a 64 bit desktop. Any other necessary information just let me know.
