forgot xp user password

I forgot my user password for xp and i am the administrator. i tried mulitple techniques on trying to retrieve it, one was saminside and i was unable because i need administrative rights, and the other seemed to almos work but gave me an error message. i got through all the steps and then it seem to almost work, i got the the user account screen and then a pop up came up and said "The current user account is not recognized. Restart the computer and then open user accounts". could someone please help me and let me know what that means and if there is possibility on retrieving my password or logging in to my account by means of another way?.
