just wondered how you would kill a windows pc (2000 / xp), by selective file deletion ?
I presume you would have to disable windows file protection first, then delete certain files, and prevent them from being replaced at start up?
Ive seen some intelligent and knowledgeable posters here, and have been wondering about this question for some time.
hey there manc! man, this sounds like a lot of fun!!! ok, so the quickest answer of all: screw boot.ini and you're done. but you hafta know, one can get very inventive with completing this task. so, pls give me more details about what you want to do and where (if you run under a limited account,etc) and i promise i'll try my best!

I was looking for ways under 2 account types:
Administrator (local)and user
the boot.ini is a good s***estion, and one that didnt occur to me (should have thought back to my NT days) :)
Is that computer on the network or local machine? Either way you can copy that boot.ini file to a disk or whatnot and then delete it. The pc of course wont boot. Then you can put that file back in and boot into it.
Im just curious to see who has the most creative way to slowly destroy a machine day by day. Post your scripts/ideas here:
i have an ideea too: say a way to crash the os, then the recovery method. it's more efficient this way. so, recovering the boot.ini can be done like this: boot from winxp cd, enter the recovery console, log on to that windows installation then use "bootcfg" and "fixboot".
How about rip it out the wall, kick it down the stairs? Dont just say what you want to do, show how you can do it with a script or two~ If you want to crash a WinBoX... Pretend its not yours, but an admin is logged on to a WINNT machine w/ XP SP2 - You have *0 seconds before the admin gets back. You have a floppy with a series of scripts on it. What would the scripts say:
