help with cracking?

i read a tut here on how to crack programs..finding the error and stuff
the problem is when i try w*2 it wont open the exe and when i open it with hdasm it opens it but it cant find the error msg.
i even searched per line but nothing.
i was wondering if someone can help me with it

okay i managed to open with w*2dasm still cant find error...i just found another one and tried to edit it but it was protected..tried protectionid5,2 to find what kind of protection but it couldnt finish..it stuck at scan completed..waiting..
help please?:(
