can 2 people have the same IP address? i talk to someone online and i'm not sure if it is my friend pretending to be them so i connected with both of them on instant messenger and did netstat -n and 2 of the same IP addresses showed up.

If two people have the same IP address, they aren't two people...
if they go through same router or use same proxy they have same ip....
