You can always add those IP addresses to your Firewall IP block/filter list.
I have yet to get any major pings. I use a router, and Zonealarm. I have used various Sofware Programs to detect Ping Activity(ProtectX). My Router, Firewall, ProtectX logs have never picked up any ping activity, going on two months now.
Prior to using a Router, I used to get a ton of pings, but my Internet Service Provider confirmed that this represents normal Intenet traffic activity and should not be cause for concern.

They show up on my routers logs.
Thanks Syntax
oh and i did a search on other ips and the come up strange???
They say they belong to microsofts corp? Msnbot?
Also i am unable to ping them back. I know they are online but i can not ping them? perhaps they have blocked pings, or would a certain router do this?
Just curious Thanks
MSN bots are for webpages. Do you have an active webpage on your machine with another site that contains your link? If so you should be getting spidered by all sorts of BOTS Googlebot, MSNbot, Teoma, the list goes on and on. If you do have a webpage write up a PHP script that collects the agent and IP information. You can watch the bots eat up your web pages as they spider them.

Desactivate your MS auto-update for a while, see if you still get the ping requestOriginally Posted by guest
