    Black Ice --Useless??

I just heard that Black Ice is virtually useless. They said it's basically just an alarm that's let you know somebody or some pc is trying to do whatever, and that it cannot block hackers if they really want to get in.
    Any opinions? S***estions??
    I also use ZAPro.

    Blackice

    Hello Dirk,

Blackice is an Intrusion Detection System (IDS), not a true firewall. Many experienced Netizens like it very much, and some use it in addition to a firewall, e.g. ZA.

I would NOT say it is useless.

    2 cents

Black Ice dropped the ball when it came to allotta bugs getting into your PC.

ALso you have to have a special program to read the damn thing so really~~ what good is it to a newbie anyway??? You gotta TRUST it , that's it's doing it's job?????

Zone alarm has to be the best... why else would hackers repeatedly attack the damn site? They didn't like what improvements it offered. It cut down on the "***** meat".
