    Post Netbios can be traced?

Hmmm....a friend told me that he's able to get into someone's pc using netbios connections...

I know bout that, but, could a netbios session be traced? Does it leave logs ? (supposing the guy doesn't use firewalls or such)

    Hi,

. You seem to be very concerned 'bout your friend..

. As for hacking someone's PC with netbios-ssn port *** and exploiting the sharing tasks with some very commun little proggies available everywhere on the net (which is a very childish exploit), this is the answer:

    a. If the victim has a well configurated firewall, you , oops sorry, your friend cannot access the victims's PC. However the firewall will STILL log this attack, showing time, date, used protocol/port/IPs...

    b. If the victim has no firewall, and has enabled the File And Printer Sharing (replying ==> user <20> with nbtstat) then your friend has a chance to penetrate the victim's PC without leaving behind him any trace on THE VICTIM's PC (not talking about the damage that he might leave on the PC)

Unfortunately for your friend, the victim can still ask his ISP and trace back your friend to kick his "A.S.S".

Please remind your friend that accessing someone PC's without his knowledge is like penetrating at someone's house without his knowledge.
IT IS SIMPLY A violation or infraction of the moral & social code.
in the US it's a federal offense.
