The fake mailers do not work really well, but everything else is OK.

That's like asking "How do I make a telephone call without a telephone number?".

If you configured your Internet connection to automatically connect through a proxy program (like TOR) you don't need another proxy, unless you are paranoid or something.

Net Tools uses your default Internet connection. Your default Internet connection should be set up to go through TOR.

For programs that don't have built-in proxy support, I use the torify command to route their TCP/IP traffic through the TOR network. TOR seems broken for me right now though :/.

You can make applications communicate through TOR using tools like Sockscap on Windows, or so I've heard. Search for sockscap, and maybe you'll find one like it. All you would have to do is use a tool like that to make Net Tools connect through *27.0.0.*:*050 and it'll be anonymous. Don't do anything stupid like run DDoS attacks through TOR though, because it slows down for the rest of us (including people that rely on it to bypass censorship from anti-freedom governments).
