What kind of hash do you need to crack with JTR?
If it's not standard DES, just download Cain and Abel from the [URL="http://www.oxid.it/cain.html"]Cain and Abel website[/URL] instead of trying to use JTR. JTR may be faster, but C&A is MUCH more newbie-friendly.

ive already got C & A but for some reason its not working
if you moonbat could possible kend me a hand to learn JTR would be much appreciated

jtr
jtr blows unless you are running a unix/linux based system. i say figure out what the issue is with c&a, it will be your best bet.
