I need an advice

Hello!
I'm new here. I've been browsing tons of forums for an idea of what to do. I was laid off from my job about * month ago. I've been looking for a job since then, but did not even get a single interview. I worked as a web designer for a publishing company for the last 5 years. Looks like www.all-nettools.com is an active forum with active members and may be someone has some experience working as a freelance web designer. May be "Encryption" category is not the most appropriate for this question, but I want to try anyways to get some opinions before I go ahead with my life. I'm wondering if it is possible in the current economy to find work for a freelance web designer and make enough to pay for rent and groceries. I was able to find a small project on craigslist and I developed a website for a company. It was a small project and took me only a week to complete. I got paid $800 for * week of work which is not bad. Please people give me some ideas. I have 2 kids and my wife is out of work as well. Thank you in advance.

If you're got a good grasp of programming and a lot of motivation, sure. However a lot of projects get taken up by dudes in India and other cheaper countries, so you've got to be good. It's not massively profitable for the amount of hours required, but it's not bad either.

(I've only done a few projects; I'm currently unemployed but in education.)

The whole 'Payday Loans' signature at the bottom makes this look like spam, but I might as well put in my two cents.

Freelance programming, whether it be a website or a program, was never very profitable for me. I would go into graphic design (designing logos and banners with programs like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator). It hasn't been completely dominated yet by Asian markets, which means there's always at least one decent job available. Not to mention that graphic design isn't too hard once you've learned how to use all the program's features. Most of the time, I find myself using the same 5-6 tools (Magic Wand, Gradient, Paint Brush, etc.) to do work with.

Online jobs are very rampant now a days. Its where people earn for a living and cuts the chase of being early to wake up, and travel to their workplaces. If you have the ability and experience then you are highly to be hired. Learn about other things. Online employers are looking for those who really have the talent and skills. Learn things about programming, data encoding, virtual assistance or even postings about ********* issues like VPN's and routers or even for products. There are a lot of ways for you to be hired.

Upwork will forever be my favorite freelancing site because this is the one I first started getting work from. It has jobs for beginners to professionals, with clients and employees from all around the world.

You’ll see plenty of low-budget jobs on here, but you can also find great clients who are willing to pay well.
