Under configure, make sure you are using the correct network adapter. Also try ticking "don't use promiscuous mode". Or if that is ticked, change it.

Cain & Abel is a password recovery tool for Microsoft operating systems. It allows easy recovery of various kind of passwords by sniffing the network, cracking encrypted passwords using Dictionary & Brute-Force attacks, decoding scrambled passwords, revealing password boxes, uncovering cached passwords and analyzing routing protocols.

Some tutorials for you
Hi,
I've seen a blog on Cain and Abel which has some really useful tutorials, step by step. They say they'll even answer questions if possible on the blog.
Here's the address: http://hackingforwindows.blogspot.com

advice
I'm not strong at working with Cain and Abel, but I'd like to say each time I have some questions I usually find good answers by torrents search engine . there are also some rather helpful tutorials and books. in case you prefer coping with all your problems yourself as I do

Another perfect example of RTFM (remember, the 'F' is for "fine").
Go to "Program Features->Cain->Sniffer, and look at the bottom of the page:
"Requirements: Supported Ethernet adapter".
You can't sniff wi-fi traffic. Your best bet is to get something like Ethereal or Tcpdump, grab the wi-fi traffic, and use the off-line file processing feature to process the captured data.
