Is there really such a thing as anonymity? Can you have an anonymous email? Can you surf the web and participate in chat groups without being found out?

Yes, there is, and no, there is none. Everything is relative, and depends on who your adversary is, what are his/her motives and what resources s/he is ready to employ in breaking your anonymity (and how much effort are you ready to put into staying anonymous). It's a rat race.

I'm not being overly metaphysical - just trying to put things in a realistic perspective. It really helps in the long run. If you need specific ********* advice, people here in this forum and elsewhere are sure to help you out somewhat.
