Thread: is there a firewall?

    Question is there a firewall?

I use a workstation in a business network. The administrator has set my PC to surf in internet through a local proxy server on port 8080.
I have tried to disable "using proxy" in IE and in this way i can't go in internet. If I change the proxy, but always using a port not equal to 80, in IE (using a working one that I found in internet) then I can surf. What does it mean? is there a firewall that block only TCP packets on port 80?

    Thanks for the help.

    Re: is there a firewall?

When you say "but always using a port not equal to 80, in IE (using a working one that I found in internet) then I can surf." What do you mean about finding it on the internet? And you say that if you use any port other than 80 then you can surf?? That sounds odd.

    Let me know.
